Size comparison

Subnautica 2 leviathans, sized

Subnautica 2 ships with five leviathan-class creatures at Early Access plus the Titan-class World Tree. No official meters value has been published for any of them — all sizes below are community visual estimates from in-game footage. Treat as relative scale, not measurement.

Heads-up: The official PDA databank does not state meter sizes for Subnautica 2 leviathans. The chart below is built from community estimates referenced in the underlying research (Game8, GameWith, FandomWire, r/subnautica clips). Numbers may change as Unknown Worlds adds canonical PDA sizes during EA.

The chart

Threat: High

Visually comparable or slightly larger than SN1's Reaper.

Threat: Very High

"Mother-wife" form. Travels with a pack of male Shivers.

Threat: High (pack)

Smaller pack-member form. Sexually dimorphic with female.

Ghost Shiver Leviathan Comparable to Shiver
Threat: Very High

Variant or Void-form Shiver — encountered at the map edge. May be a community nickname for Void Shivers. [uncertain]

Great Jaw Unmeasured
Threat: High

Confirmed in GameWith / TopGamerArena guides. Limited public footage.

Deepwing Brooder Large, unmeasured
Threat: None (passive)

Docile. Floats above the player. Drops decoy 'eggs'; one in ~8 hours of play.

World Tree Titan-class
Threat: N/A (unreachable)

Visible at the map edge, beyond the Void. Cannot be approached — Shiver Leviathans patrol the boundary. Titan Rock Bores scattered across the world may be its roots.

Reference: Subnautica 1 Reaper Leviathan ~55 m (canonical)

What does "Titan-class" mean?

The World Tree is classified above standard leviathan tier. It is visible from kilometers away at the map edge, beyond the Void where Shiver Leviathans patrol. You cannot reach it in the Early Access build — crossing the Void is certain death. The Titan Rock Bores scattered across Proteus's world map are likely the World Tree's roots; the tree itself may be the climactic late-game destination at 1.0.

What about Void Leviathan / Kraken / Pelagic Ghost?

Versus Subnautica 1's roster

SN1's Reaper sits at roughly 55 m canonical — a useful baseline. Community estimates put the Collector Leviathan in roughly the same range or slightly larger, while the Shiver female lands a bit smaller. The biggest difference is structural: SN1's Gargantuan Leviathan fossil was an environmental landmark, while SN2's World Tree occupies that "scale beyond comprehension" role and is meant to be reached eventually.

Reception notes

A vocal slice of the community has called SN2's leviathans "cartoonish and whimsical" compared to SN1's thalassophobia-forward designs. The Shiver and Collector get the most consistent positive marks for being genuinely intimidating; the Deepwing Brooder, being passive, draws different (often delighted) reactions.
