Unlock: Bioscan Toxic Sponge (starter-area caves) and Houndgar (yellow biome past the Alien Ruins). Two-part unlock; you cannot rush it.

Doesn't work on Leviathans — they ignore the bait and lock onto you regardless. Used best on swarm-aggressive predators (Nibbler Mangos, Foureyes) and ambush predators (Cerathecans). In co-op, one player chums while the rest gather; rotate the chum role between Bioscanner runs.
