A photovoltaic panel that mounts on the exterior of the base and converts sunlight into electrical power. Output scales with depth and time of day: up to 8 energy/sec at the surface at noon, dropping to around 1/sec at night or in dark water. Solar panels are the easiest early-game power source but are unreliable overnight — always pair with a second generator or Power Storage to maintain base oxygen through the night.

Notes

Output: 1–8 energy/sec (depth and time-of-day dependent; ~1/sec at night or deep water).

Tips:

  1. Install at least 2–3 Solar Panels on the shallowest part of your base for early-game power. Mount them on the roof/top exterior for maximum exposure.
  2. At night Solar output drops to ~1/sec — if your base draws more than that (Fabricator, Modification Station in use), add a [bioreactor] or [power-storage].
  3. Deep bases (below ~100m) get little solar return — switch to [hydroelectric-turbine] or [thermal-plant] as primary power.
