The Waxmoon is an aggressive fish found throughout the Shallows, spanning a surprising depth range of 0–350m across 15+ confirmed spawn sites. Once aggro'd, the Waxmoon pursues relentlessly — unlike many fish that give up after a short chase. Escape requires either superior speed (Wakemaker) or environmental cover (ducking into a cave or tight wreck structure). Its wide distribution makes it one of the most frequently-encountered threats in the early game.

Behavior: Relentless pursuit once aggro'd — does not disengage. Found in 15+ spawn sites, 0–350m depth.
Strategy:
- Equip [wakemaker] or [basic-fins] before doing Shallows resource runs to outpace pursuit.
- If cornered, duck into a cave or narrow wreck corridor — Waxmoons are poor at navigating geometry.
- Electric Discharge biomod shocks on contact; one discharge usually breaks pursuit.
