A palm-sized pyrotechnic stick that burns bright and hot for several seconds after being lit. Throw it ahead of you to draw the attention of light-attracted predators — most notably the Collector Leviathan, which can be briefly diverted while you sprint through its patrol zone. Crafts in stacks of 3, making it one of the cheapest life-insurance items in the game. Can also be dropped at your feet as a stationary light source in dark passages.

Effect: Throwable light source. Distracts light-attracted lifeforms for several seconds. Can also serve as an emergency stationary torch.
Tips:
- Against the Collector Leviathan: throw the flare in the opposite direction of your travel path, then swim immediately — the window is short.
- Craft in bulk — 1× Titanium + 1× Quartz yields 3 flares. Bring 6–9 when crossing the trench to the Alien Ruins.
- In co-op, one player flares while the other completes the objective — the leviathan can only chase one light at a time.
- Doubles as a dim light source in total darkness; not as bright as the [flashlight] but useful in a pinch.
