Shared Progression in Subnautica 2 Co-op
Short answer
In Subnautica 2 co-op, blueprints, scan progress, and world state (built bases, deployed beacons, opened doors) are shared. Inventory, equipped biomods, fabricator-station unlocks for crafting, hunger/thirst, oxygen, and achievement triggers are per-player.
Shared vs per-player
| Thing | Shared with party? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Blueprints unlocked from scans | Shared | Once one player scans a wreck blueprint, everyone can fabricate it. |
| Scan progress on creatures | Shared | Scan count and PDA entries unlock for the whole party. |
| Bioscan / biomod unlocks | Shared | Adaptation unlocks (e.g. Heat Tolerance) are world-state, not per-player. |
| Built bases & structures | Shared | Anyone can enter, build, or refund. |
| Beacons & map pings | Shared | Pings are visible to all 4 players in real time. |
| NoA / story progression flags | Shared | Triggered by whichever player first satisfies the condition. |
| Resources & items in inventory | Per-player | No shared stash unless you build a locker base. |
| Equipped biomods | Per-player | Each player picks which to slot. |
| Hunger / thirst / oxygen / health | Per-player | Standard survival metrics tick per player. |
| Achievements | Per-player (with caveats) | Most Steam/Xbox achievements unlock only for players who personally meet the condition. |
Blueprints in detail
Scanning a wreck blueprint as any party member instantly broadcasts the unlock to everyone — even players who weren't online when the scan happened (they receive the unlock on next login). However, each player still needs the upgraded Fabricator at their build location to actually craft items. Blueprint = recipe known. Fabricator = tool to use the recipe.
Heads-up on solo save → co-op transfer
If you host with an existing solo save, your blueprints carry into the co-op session and become available to joining guests. There is no penalty or scaling — guests effectively inherit your tech tree.
Achievements
On both Steam and Xbox, achievement unlock criteria are evaluated client-side. So 'reach 1000 m depth' fires for the player who personally hits 1000 m. Story milestones tied to NoA cutscenes fire for any player in render range of the trigger. There is currently no documented case of achievements being blocked by co-op.
