The Awnworm (Ventworm awn, "grain-husk vent worm") is a sessile plume worm that colonizes hydrothermal vents in the Graveyard biome. It survives near-boiling water and actively harvests hydrogen sulfide and minerals from vent emissions — an extremophile adapted to conditions lethal to most marine life. Passive and non-threatening, it is a visually distinctive creature that fills the biological niche of real-world tube worms.
