Subnautica 2 ships on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Windows Store — plus day-one Xbox Game Pass PC. All four PC entry points cross-play with each other and with Xbox Series X|S.

Windows Store: Microsoft Store on Windows 11; same build as the Xbox PC version.
Game Pass (PC): Day-one in the catalog. Game Pass Ultimate covers it too.

Crossplay

All four PC versions cross-play with each other and with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Game Pass, and ROG Xbox Ally. Connection is via Friend Code — no need to be Steam friends or Xbox friends with the host. Full breakdown: co-op hub.

Unknown Worlds has not published a definitive specs sheet at EA launch; the Steam page lists indicative minimum / recommended. Treat the following as a starting point — community reports will firm these up during EA. [uncertain — verify on Steam page]

Mods

Subnautica 1's modding scene was robust (most notably the Nitrox multiplayer mod). Subnautica 2 ships with official 4-player co-op out of the box, so a Nitrox-style mod is less urgent — but a mod ecosystem is forming around tweaks, UI, and balance. Official mod policy beyond 4 players is unconfirmed.
